Tales From The Middle of Town is a co-production between NIE Theatre and Eastern Angles Theatre company. It is a project funded by Arts Council England and Peterborough City Council. This will be a site-specific prpject based in Peterborough exploring the ideas and stories of migrant communities based there.
The project has begun with a 5 week programme of theatre workshops with young people. Through workshop facilitation, the young people will write stories that focus on the site specific location. This process has already begun. In September Hannah Whelan who is working with NIE on the project, went into schools in Peterborough and collected hundreds of stories. More workshops will be happening in January 2010. These stories will become the basis for a theatre performance that addresses issues of identity, location and personal history and how these relate to place and a city. We will open the show in October 2010.
